2010 FIFA Football World Cup

World Cup 2010

South Africa was awarded World Cup 2010 on 15 May 2004. The main opponents were Morocco and Egypt. The spectacle will be hosted in June/July 2010 in 9 South African Cities in 10 stadiums. Cities include Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein. Building of the stadiums has just started. Tickets for the World Cup tickets will be advertised in 2008.

Although this is still 4 years away, it is best to start making plans now. Whether you are visiting from abroad or live in South Africa, you will need to make plans for when the tournament begins.

South Africa draws thousands of international visitors each year. Combine this with the 2010 Football World Cup - billed as the biggest sporting event of all time - and you have a situation in which masses of people are going to be trying to book a limited number of flights, accommodation, tickets and more. Hotels around the stadiums have already set about 80% of their rooms to officials from around the world and so forth. If you are planning on staying in a hotel or anything of the sorts, you had better book as soon as possible. Even 4 years in advance the hotels are becoming fully booked!

In the 12 years since democracy, South Africa has staged more successful high-profile international events than many developed nations. South Africa hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup, the 1196 African Cup of Nations, and the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

The World Cup will provide an improved and advanced infrastructure, increased tourism through global exposure and referrals, the creation of permanent jobs and focused entrepreneurship, and probably the greatest benefit being the pride of a nation united under a rainbow.

The Role of FIFA For the World Cup 2010 Qualifiers

World Cup 2010

The main role of FIFA in the World Cup 2010 Qualifiers is to implement the process of qualification. They will be the one who will officially work on choosing who will make it for the FIFA World Cup Finals. The FIFA World Cup Finals is considered to be a very famous event known all over the world. The qualification is being used to lessen the huge number of the aspiring participants ranging from about 200 teams and reducing them to only 32 teams.

The World Cup 2010 Qualifiers will be assessed through the qualifying tournaments to know who will be the aspiring teams that will make it to the FIFA World Cup Finals. These tournaments are scheduled to be held inside the six FIFA continental zones like Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America plus the Caribbean. The tournaments are organized through their specific confederations. In each tournament, FIFA will outright decide how many spots will be awarded for each continental zone of course based on the respectable strength of each confederation teams.

Before every hosts of the World Cup will automatically occupy a permanent spot in the finals. World Cup previous results and continental championships are not recognized or put into account due to this, unlike the other sports that are known in the world. It was until 2002 that an automatic spot was given to defending champions. In 2006 World Cup defending championship need to enter the qualifying games too.

In 1934 and 1978 there are only 16 teams for the qualifying round, and since over the years there is an increasing number of teams qualifying for the finals, it increased to 24 teams between 1982 and 1994 and finally making it to 32 teams from 1998 and such qualifying requirement scheme has been the official format throughout the whole history of World Cup.

South African Export Market Revival in 2010

South Africa 2010

The South African export market has taken a knock over 2009. The four months leading up to August actually reflected surplus exports, with a surplus of R400 million in July, but a 9.2% drop in exports in August pushed the trade deficit to R1.98 billion. Even with the four good months, the cumulative deficit in the export market is R20.4 billion for the year 2009.

The import/export market is driven largely by the strength of the Rand, with a strong Rand negatively affecting exports, and as the Rand has strengthened by more than 27% since December 2008, there has been a concomitant decrease in exports. Statistics for the import/export market show that imports have fallen by 25% for the year up to August, while exports have dropped by 21%.

The export of vegetable products saw the biggest decrease - 30%. Another big faller in the export market is base metals, which have dropped by 40%. Import categories most affected include vehicles, vessels and aircraft, which decreased by 31%. Exports to the US have suffered the most, while exports to the rest of Africa have suffered the least. The opposite is true for imports, where imports to the rest of Africa suffered the most and imports to the rest of the world have suffered the least.

Anthony Grant, head of customer dealing in Rand Merchant Bank's fixed income, currency and commodity division, says, "On the export side, manufacturers are having a difficult time and they are also being adversely affected by the strong rand versus the currencies of our main trading partners ... While the strong rand makes imports cheaper, importers have suffered from the lower level of consumer demand and a trend towards lower inventory levels. Furthermore, many companies that might otherwise import capital goods have put projects on hold."

According to Grant, the market should pick up in the first six months of 2010. Temi Ofong, managing principal and head of foreign exchange sales at Absa Capital, agrees that 2010 will be a better year for South Africa's export market, especially as the country benefits from the knock-on effects of the Fifa World Cup. Ofong is also optimistic about a season increase in export/import activity towards the end of the year.

Successful Coaches in the FIFA World Cup Who Never Played Football!

World Cup 2010

FIFA World Cup 2010, South Africa is forthcoming. Football admirers all around the globe are undoubtedly looking forward to a huge event that just comes about once in every 4 years. The first event that would happen in Africa is FIFA World cup. The continent would play the host for the world cup as well as would take the center stage for about a month. So would all 32 teams who would be playing against each other to triumph the tournament as well as state themselves the leader of world of soccer.

The duration of a football game is 90 minutes however never begins or finishes there. The arrangements takes lot of months and creating a good, working and efficient team does not just depend on the players but also on a coach who manages the team.

32 countries are taking part in the footballs greatest event known as "World Cup" and they will end up in South Africa after a lot of qualification games which they played to eradicate the other teams to attain the finals. Every nation made their top effort to arrive to South Africa plus while starting a campaign for the qualifications, they select the best coach who will stand out among others. If you gaze at the record of coaches attending the event this time around, there is an unusual power of ex football performers who are currently heading the teams. 30 coaches among 32 teams have in fact played qualified football in their day.

There are certainly more well-known ones such as Diego Maradona, Argentinian coach, or the Brazilian, Carlos Dunga. Though, there are two coaches who have been coaches and not the past players. Namely, the US coach Bob Bradley and the Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira, coaching the hosts South Africa. Bob Bradley has been coaching soccer ever since 1981, about 30 years.

In 2009, Bradley lead the U.S. team to 2nd place finish in 2009 Confederations Cup, comprising a 2-0 victory against the best team in the world as well as European champions Spain, finishing their 35 game winning streak as well as 15 game appealing streak.

The next coach who is not a past football player is Alberto Parreira. He began his coaching career at 24. He managed a lot of teams ever since and in fact took part in five World Cups up to now. He coached Kuwait in 1982, 2 games were lost and one being drawn 1-1 with Czechoslovakia. He was heading UAE, 1990 and lost all the 3 games. After 4 years, he was holding the world cup arrogantly with Brazil. The world Cup last year in 2006, he was heading Brazil, however cannot put its score to the competition.

At present, Parreira is heading South African team who are also hosting this year's world cup. They are playing superbly. Both Bradley and Parreira never played soccer efficiently however both are triumphant coaches and have remarkable careers and hold a lot of expectations. We would see as well as follow both of them to discover their performance against the coaches who are all former football players.

Transport in South Africa

South Africa 2010

Rental Vehicle - South Africa is made for self-drive trips. The road system is well developed compared to most African countries, and most destinations are well-signposted. Being a former British colony it is left-hand drive and there are plenty of petrol stations on the main routes.

While some travellers may have a perception of Africa being wild and a 4x4 being necessary, but while this may be true of parts of Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique, travellers to South Africa can get by just fine in a standard hatchback/saloon car. There are of course some areas in the country where the roads have still not been tarred, especially in the Transkei region (often called the Wild Coast). Car travel is still possible here, as long as you are willing to take it slow and bounce your head on the ceiling all the way.

There are a few things first time visitors need to bear in mind when visiting the country, firstly that distances are large. This means preparation and planning is necessary, for example driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town is simply not possible in one day because the distance is so vast. Secondly, driving at night is not recommended if the driver does not know the area. In some urban areas it is not safe to travel at night, while in the countryside it can be dangerous with wild animals crossing the roads.

4x4 hire - For the more intrepid traveller, several companies offer the option of renting fully equipped 4x4 vehicles. This gives you the freedom to explore neighbouring countries where the roads may be gravel or sand tracks. This is perfect for Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique where campsites are generally easy to find. Most of these include the option of a roof-tent allowing you to camp anywhere you like! Obviously those travelling this way need to do some serious planning as to where you are going and some good advice from those who have done it before.

Find out more about 4x4 rental South Africa.

Organised bus - The chief option for those visitors who do not wish to rent a vehicle is the Bazbus. This bus runs the route from Cape Town to Johannesburg along the south and east coasts. It provides a hop-on, hop-off service that makes it perfect for the backpacker who hasn't planned how long they are staying in each spot.

Public Transport - Not really recommended for the first-time visitor, it's better for those who have been a few times or in the company of a local. Services are poor for the most part, running late and often taking very long to get anywhere.

Domestic flights - If you have a little bit more money and want to get around the country quickly then this is the way for you. There are plenty of domestic airports across the country, including several at the Kruger. Most are served by the major airlines and several cheaper low cost carriers such as Mango, Kulula and 1time.

Oil lanterns in Kruger. Garden Route adventure trails. Sleep in beehive huts and bush chalets. We'll help you build your very own South Africa adventure.

Top 10 Ways to Score Goals in FIFA 10

World Cup 2010

So you want to score more goals huh? Read these 10 easy to understand tips, then apply them one by one. I've used these to win over 400 Xbox Live ranked games. This should work for you too.

#1 - The Closer, The Better

The closer you are to goal, the better chance you have of scoring. I know long range goals look awesome, but we want to score as quickly and easily as possible. Only shoot within the 18 yard box and watch your goal total soar!

#2 - 2 Strikers is Better than One

Always play with two strikers up top and abuse your opponent with the 1-2 pass (aka wall pass). I have made a living scoring goals like this. It is simple and it works.

#3 - Slow Down

Do not be in such a hurry all the time. Slow down your player when shooting. Use pace control if you need to. The less movement you are making, the more accurate your shoot will be.

#4 - Use the Lobbed Through Ball

Ground through balls work great, but lobbed through balls work better. It is nearly impossible to block a lobbed pass, plus it beats most offside traps with ease. You get lots of breakaways.

#5 - Tap Shoot, Don't Press

I have scored far more goals with slower, more accurate shots than fast laser shots. Get into the habit of tapping the shoot button instead of pressing it down. FIFA 2010 has a VERY sensitive shot control system, and most times pressing shoot will give your opponent a goal kick.

#6 - Play With Fast Strikers

That means play with teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, etc. These teams feature the world's best strikers who all have superior speed, shot accuracy, and shot power. Follow the trend and score some easy goals with the best of the best.

#7 - Watch The Opponent's Goalkeeper

You can pick up some EASY goals by cherrypicking your opponent when the goalkeeper passes and/or throws the ball back into play after a save. Just stand in front of your opponent's defender, steal the ball, and tap shoot. The goalkeeper is usually out of position, and it is an easy goal. I have scored at least 50 goals doing this. Piece of Cake.

#8 - Cross Often and Use Your Head

When your opponent plays better than average defense, cross early and often. Crosses are a pain in the butt to defend. Don't you agree?

#9 - Use the Chip

There are 3 different basic shots in FIFA 2010: normal, finesse, and chip. The chip works wonders on a charging keeper. Learn all 3 shots and use them when necessary. Result: You score more goals.

#10 - Attack Aggressively RIGHT AFTER You Give Up a Goal

I will admit it: my weakest point IS right after I score a goal. Maybe it is a false comfort zone. Maybe I am just lazy. I can not tell you how many times my defense becomes a joke immediately after I score a goal. It happens to LOTS of FIFA 2010 gamers.

Instead of getting upset after allowing a goal, you should attack twice as hard because it is much easier to score when your opponent is still screaming GOOOOL!!!!!

Tarik Pierce shares FIFA 10 tips on his website and invites you to improve your goal scoring skills with the help of high quality video tutorials. To start scoring more goals and winning more games, watch your FIFA 10 tutorials now.

Football Fever in South Africa

The countdown has begun! There are ten days left before the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa officially begins. We, in South Africa, have begun welcoming the teams that will be playing here and are looking forward to welcoming the rest of the world too. I live in Johannesburg - the centre of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa where this year's most exciting football matches will be played. I can see the stadium where the FIFA World Cup 2010 finals will be played from my street. Even I, who am not a football fan, have been affected by "Football Fevah". I have tickets to four of the matches which I purchased in the first round of ticket sales last year.

Our catch phrase is "I can feel it - it is here!". Our song "When I get older, they'll call me freedom, Just like a Waving Flag" by K'naan. Our dance - the diski dance! Our ball - the Jabulani World Cup ball which was described by Michael Ballack, the German captain, as fantastic. Our mascot - Zakhumi, the leopard, which can be seen in the flesh in our many game reserves all over the country. Our colours- green and yellow for Bafana Bafana, South Africa's national team.

It is the first time that the FIFA World Cup will be held on African soil, and the first time that six African nations will be participating, bringing the excitement levels to an all-time high. Football fever is on TV during the commercial breaks, it has been incorporated into our soap opera storylines, it's in our newspapers, it's in our magazines. Those who have tickets proudly upload pictures of them on Facebook every day. It dominates the conversation everywhere I go. It's taken over our lives until the middle of July 2010.

Every Friday is Football Friday where staff at big and small companies alike and students in kindergarten and university alike, dress in the football attire of their favourite teams. The smallest babies and the oldest grandfathers (and grandmothers) are all wearing them. One would be forgiven for thinking that green and yellow are the colours of our national uniform, although the odd person here and there does sport a Germany, Brazil or Italy t-shirt. Most of our cars are adorned in South African flags. Our offices, houses, restaurants and shops are similarly draped in the flags of all the thirty-two participating nations. The eateries are all offering football specials, be they football lunches, football dinners or football meals for kids with a free soccer ball or vuvuzela. Schools go to the stadiums for behind-the-scenes excursions.

Our ten stunning new stadiums - one in each province besides Johannesburg which has two - are all vying for the title of best and most attractive stadium. Those who don't have tickets to the matches can watch them on the big-screen TV's at the fan parks. There is no shortage of attractions, events and entertainment to keep everyone happy in between matches. Our schools are closed for the duration of the FIFA World Cup 2010 so we will be enjoying this event with the rest of the World.

Football frenzy has gripped South Africa. The air is thick with anticipation and excitement. There are still tickets available - what are you waiting for?
