If you're looking forward to the 2010 World Cup, then perhaps you're already getting behind your country, or are supporting a different country because your nation didn't qualify.

Here's who could win the World Cup.

1. England have the expectations of the whole country behind them, and on their day are definitely contenders. With the best players on top form, England will be hard to beat.

2. Italy are the holders, and will definitely want to retain it. The Italians are substance as well as style, and are known for their defending as well as going forward. If their forwards are playing well, and scoring goals, then they might just retain the World Cup.

3. Everyone in the world has high expectations for Brazil, and even more so in Brazil itself. With a proud World Cup history, and some of the best players in the world, Brazil will be looking to book their place in the Final.

4. Germany are England's old foe, and are still a strong team that work well together and score goals. Some of the German players have experience of playing in Spain, Italy and England, and so will know what to expect from their opponents in the later rounds.

5. Argentina are another proud footballing nation with a great history. Although forever remembered for Maradonna's infamous Hand Of God goal, they still have the players, the skill and the Latin flair to go far this time.

6. Spain have always seem to have the players, yet have famously underachieved in previous tournaments and other games when it mattered. Still, they are the Euro 2008 winners, and so they might well be able to carry on and win the World Cup too.

7. Another side with the skill and the players is Portugal. With some of the most gifted players in the world, and experience of playing in different countries for some of the biggest clubs in the world, there's no shortage of passion and pride in the Portuguese team.

8. The Netherlands revolutionised football in the 70s and 80s and although they haven't been as strong in international football recently, they still could provide a few upsets, and progress further than expected

9. France are excellent on their day, and many of their players are well known to English football fans. Like the Netherlands, they haven't done as well as expected after their 1998 World Cup win, but could this be their year?

10. As well as the obvious countries this year, it might be an outsider like Nigeria, the Ivory Coast, Paraguay, South Korea, or Denmark that wins the 2010 World Cup. Players from the African nations, as well as the South American countries are often found playing in Europe for the best teams, and so their national teams are getting better all the time.

Now you know that almost any nation could win the World Cup this year, who will you support?
