Football world cup 2010 South Africa will show the world how the country has changed and developed. They were fortunate enough to win the bidding to host this event, something this country has never been able to do before. The number of countries that are participating in this tournament will match the number that participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The date is almost here and soccer fans around the world will be watching the games from stadiums throughout the country. They had to build five stadiums from scratch and upgraded five others to meet the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) specifications. They also upgraded their public transportation system to handle the number of fans expected to attend the event.

One of the main concerns for fans and players from other countries is security and safety. Ninety million dollars have been spent on security equipment for the government. They have bought high tech bomb disabling equipment, special body armor, command vehicles, security cameras and other specialized equipment to help ensure the safety and security of everyone. They also hired 55,000 officers to work at the stadiums to maintain crowd control.

Danny Jordaan who is the organizing committee's president feels that the South Africans will be gracious hosts. He has tried to convey to the people the importance of displaying their country as one that is willing and able to host future events of this magnitude. He hopes their attitudes and demeanor are gracious and hospitable. It will be a great chance to build their nations unity.

Right now Spain has the best team in this sport. Every position on the team is being played by a world class athlete. The champions of the 2008 European Championship are the team going to South Africa. As displayed in each and every game they have a teamwork that far surpasses any other.

Of course this does not mean Spain will take home the cup. Lionel Messi who plays for Argentina is going to be someone that you will one day be proud to say I saw him play in the 2010 world cup. His artless ability during a game places him in a class all his own. They have a great chance at the cup because their coach, Diego Maradona was at one time the greatest soccer player of all time. He is a legend in the soccer world and the two of them together could make anything possible.

Soccer has not been one of the USA's strongest sports. However, their current team almost won the Confederations Cup had Brazil not played such an outstanding game. To help us gain recognition in this sport Americans need to start showing support for our team at this event.

The Football World Cup 2010 South Africa proves to be an event to possibly change history. Hopefully South Africans will show the world that they are committed to the love of this sport and will use that love to unite their people during this great sporting event that they have been given the chance to host. The world will be watching and praying that they can put their differences aside to make this a successful endeavor for all countries involved.
