2010 Soccer World Cup South Africa
Image : http://www.flickr.com
South Africa has been given the opportunity to host the world's greatest event in 2010. Since, South Africa is a country in Africa, many people are skeptic about the prospects of a SA Soccer World Cup. However, South Africa is in MANY respects a developed country with a modern infrastructure and economy. Many areas in SA will match the average American neighborhood. The average South African is far better off than the average African, but the wealth inequality is huge - especially between rich and poor - black and white - although, after apartheid, more than two million black people entered the middle class. It's good to see that so many black people (although it's only a small portion of the black population) take now part in the economy. It's important for the stability of the country. The upcoming black middle class is one of the main reasons why SA has it's longest run of economic growth in its history in 2006.
Most people's main concern is the safety and security situation in South Africa. As a resident of the beautiful city of Cape Town, I can assure you that the tourist areas are really safe to visit. Yes, crime against tourists have been reported like anywhere else in the world. Just take common sense precautions and you'll be fine. South Africa is a magnificent and diverse country and the scenery absolutely prolific. It's the closet you'll get to paradise! Visit South Africa in 2010 - you'll be surprised how developed, friendly, diverse and beautiful this country really is!

Five of these South Africa World Cup stadiums will not be newly built, although they will be upgraded. Two of these stadiums are in Johannesburg and one of the other eight cities will host a stadium. Who Will Win the 2010 World Cup?
Image : http://www.flickr.com
If you're looking forward to the 2010 World Cup, then perhaps you're already getting behind your country, or are supporting a different country because your nation didn't qualify.
Here's who could win the World Cup.
1. England have the expectations of the whole country behind them, and on their day are definitely contenders. With the best players on top form, England will be hard to beat.
2. Italy are the holders, and will definitely want to retain it. The Italians are substance as well as style, and are known for their defending as well as going forward. If their forwards are playing well, and scoring goals, then they might just retain the World Cup.
3. Everyone in the world has high expectations for Brazil, and even more so in Brazil itself. With a proud World Cup history, and some of the best players in the world, Brazil will be looking to book their place in the Final.
4. Germany are England's old foe, and are still a strong team that work well together and score goals. Some of the German players have experience of playing in Spain, Italy and England, and so will know what to expect from their opponents in the later rounds.
5. Argentina are another proud footballing nation with a great history. Although forever remembered for Maradonna's infamous Hand Of God goal, they still have the players, the skill and the Latin flair to go far this time.
6. Spain have always seem to have the players, yet have famously underachieved in previous tournaments and other games when it mattered. Still, they are the Euro 2008 winners, and so they might well be able to carry on and win the World Cup too.
7. Another side with the skill and the players is Portugal. With some of the most gifted players in the world, and experience of playing in different countries for some of the biggest clubs in the world, there's no shortage of passion and pride in the Portuguese team.
8. The Netherlands revolutionised football in the 70s and 80s and although they haven't been as strong in international football recently, they still could provide a few upsets, and progress further than expected
9. France are excellent on their day, and many of their players are well known to English football fans. Like the Netherlands, they haven't done as well as expected after their 1998 World Cup win, but could this be their year?
10. As well as the obvious countries this year, it might be an outsider like Nigeria, the Ivory Coast, Paraguay, South Korea, or Denmark that wins the 2010 World Cup. Players from the African nations, as well as the South American countries are often found playing in Europe for the best teams, and so their national teams are getting better all the time.
Now you know that almost any nation could win the World Cup this year, who will you support?
If you're looking for somewhere to watch the World Cup, your local Revolution bar is the ideal place. With big screens to watch the match on, excellent food and drink offers, and a fantastic atmosphere, you'll win at Revolution, even if your team doesn't. Why not book your own private World Cup Party today to avoid disappointment?

Are You Set to Predict the Outcome of the FIFA World Cup 2010?
Image : http://www.flickr.com
The 2010 Football World cup may be your chance to reach further beyond your comfort level and create new accounts with other bookmakers. You will have the opportunity to better your knowledge of the World Cup betting market, and gain more competitive odds as this could earn you free bets, and make your chances of winning increase. This is the largest football occasion on earth, and fans worldwide place bets on the players or teams that they believe are going to be the winners. Do your homework, check out the teams that will be playing and find the teams or players that you would like to bet on.
The bookmaker Ladbrokes claims Spain will win and Brazil will place second, according to their examination of the records. England, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal and France are the other candidates that are considered to win. The biggest long-shots in the tournament are the North Koreans, Hondurans, and New Zealand teams.
A few additional big bookmakers are Hill, and sports betting, and many bookmakers think the Spanish team is the best. The odds are how accurate? Brazil entered the competition with high expectations, yet lost out quickly during the 2006 Edition. 2002 and '98 saw the identical occurrence, which proves that you have to wait and see.
Just because few people select a favorite team does not mean that team is going to win. Look at the teams capacity to work together, their key players, and their overall performance on the field. Here's a better insight into a few main players of this year's series. Geoff Hurst believes Wayne Rooney, who is considered one of the top players in the world, and England knows it is an important member of the England team if they are to have a realistic chance of winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa this summer.
Lionel Messi from Argentina is also an important player for his team to have a chance of winning the world cup. He has continued showing what a great athlete he is since starting at age 18. Buffon, one of the older players, is thought to be amazing and his talents are of the highest quality, although he's one of the oldest, and will be one of the most important Italian players. Bastian Schweinsteiger is considered one of Germany's back bone players as he plays for them. His aggression on the field makes him an important player.
Quite a few good players are being ignored by professional observers of the game. Although Kaka is a world renowned footballer and one of the most expensive soccer player hailing from Brazil, he has minimal publicity on the betting scene. Kaka could impact the World Cup because he's made eight goals within 22 Real Madrid appearances.
Kaka tallied a crucial 82nd minute goal for the Real Madrid team while playing Real Zaragoza to maintain their hopes in La Liga. Kaka may be a player to consider following during the FIFA World Cup. How successful you are in betting at the FIFA World Cup depends on your knowledge of the various players and teams. Spend some time to select your top picks. Think about the teams' overall achievements, and their players abilities before placing your bets. The 2010 World Cup is going to be a great opportunity for smart bettors.
Several intriguing betting markets to select from exist when you bet on the European game of football. Consult the literature on the subject of betting before selecting a team to win the World Cup. Some of the best betting markets do not have anything to win bets or betting on the favourite. Fashions throughout time have created chances for betting which haven't been found till recently.

Volunteer in South Africa - But Beware the World Cup in 2010!
Image : http://www.flickr.com
People looking to volunteer in South Africa in the next year should look at when they want to travel and pay particular attention to the upcoming football world cup. It's not going to make a big difference to your actual South African volunteer projects, but it's likely to have quite a big impact on flights to and from the continent.
The tournament starts on Friday 11th June 2010 (when South Africa as hosts open against Mexico) and the final is a month later, 11th July. As every continent has representatives in the world cup finals, flight prices from almost anywhere are likely to escalate for a while before, and during the competition.
If you're thinking of becoming a volunteer in South Africa during this time we certainly wouldn't want you to be put off, and there are a number of options.
If you're considering volunteering for a considerable time, let's say a month or two, it will be less of a challenge because you can plan to arrive before and leave after when flights are at a more normal level. Indeed if you were initially thinking about a short period of volunteering work, it might actually be more economical to stay longer because of savings you could make on the flight costs. You would need to look into this, of course, but it's an alternative worth considering.
The other main alternative is to choose your South African volunteering project now and book your flights as soon as possible. The earlier you are able to do this the better. Although world cup tickets are already on sale, many people don't book their flights at the same time so there is still some availability - although there's no knowing when this will change.
The final option is to fly into a neighbouring African country and get into South Africa by other means. From Windhoek in Namibia you can get a bus, which you can also do from Gaborone in Botswana. Whether you've been to Africa or not you'll probably realize that a bus ride on a lot of the roads will be less luxuries than flying in, but it's all part of the adventure! You could also fly to other parts of Africa, Kenya's Nairobi airport for example, then take an internal flight but of course many avid football fans will have the same information so you still want to make your decision as early as possible.
The organizations which arrange for you to volunteer in South Africa would like your valuable help for as long as you can give it. Whether you're working with African wildlife or helping teach local orphans it's an area where you can make a real long-term difference whatever time you have to give.

3 Unusual Sports You Might See in South Africa
Image : http://www.flickr.com
What with the 2010 world cup taking place in South Africa, the sporting status of the country has undoubtedly risen. However, it's not all football, rugby and cricket in the rainbow nation. There is a whole range of sports, which are as diverse as the people of South Africa themselves - read on to find out about just three of them.
Sand Boarding
Expending a lot of energy climbing up sand dunes may not seem like your idea of fun, however I can guarantee that the thrill you'll experience on the way back down will make it well worth the effort. Sand boarding is becoming an increasingly popular sport in South Africa, and it's easy to see why. Relatively similar to snowboarding, sand boarding involves standing with two feet on a thin board and weaving and arcing your way at breakneck speed to the bottom of the dunes. However, for those who are less steady on their feet there is a great alternative of lying flat on your stomach on the board, and heading downhill as if you were on a surfboard. Whichever way you decide to descend down the dunes, sand boarding gives you a guaranteed adrenaline rush - just be sure to keep some sunglasses on and your mouth shut or you may just end up eating sand.
Shark Diving
Everyone who heads to South Africa is aware of the fact that there are some pretty big fish out in the waters. However, not everyone will know that you can in fact take to the water yourself, and swim up close and personal with the sharks. Some of the biggest and most magnificent sharks in the world can be found off the coast of South Africa, and cage diving is the perfect way to see them in all their splendour, whilst keeping at a safe distance from their teeth. During a cave diving session you will be fitted with breathing equipment and lowered into the water in a cage made from extremely strong metal, so that you can watch the sharks in their natural habitat whilst remaining protected from them. So whether you're fascinated by sharks, or simply keen to face your fears, shark diving is a popular recreational sport, becoming more popular all the time.
River Boarding
If you like the idea of getting wet in South Africa, but are slightly less keen on the prospect of sharks, then perhaps another water sport is more suitable for you. River boarding is increasingly common in South Africa these days, and particularly in the area of Victoria Falls. Referred to by some as 'motocross on your belly', river boarding refers to the art of travelling downstream lying on your front on a board, navigating various rapids as you go. But it won't all be roaring rapids; in places you will be able to lie back and relax as you drift along and make the most of the stunning scenery that surrounds you.
So, though the sounds of the vuvuzelas may be ringing out over South Africa for some weeks yet, there is much more than just football to enjoy where sports are concerned. Try your hand at any one of the weird and wonderful sports for which the country is becoming known.

Fernando Muslera - One Of The Best Goalkeepers In World Cup 2010
Image : http://www.flickr.com
A very imposing figure with his 6 ft 3 in frame, Nestor Fernando Muslera Micol, is the first choice custodian on goal by Le Celeste, the Uruguay national squad. Born on June 16, 1986, in Montevideo, the 24-year-old goalkeeper has been a steady force for the team as shown by his heroics during the penalty shootout against Ghana in the quarterfinal match where the two crucial saves he made brought them to the semis against the Netherlands.
He began showing tremendous skills at a very young age. His physical attributes coupled with his right mental condition made him constantly alert and decisive without compromising his composure for the whole 90 minutes of matches. An ever reliable athlete with his command of the penalty area, he served his country prominently as a young dependable goalkeeper on the Under 17 and Under 20 teams in the early years of the new millennium.
He was 18 years old when he made his professional debut with the Montevideo Wanderers in 2004, the club where he honed his skills as a member of its youth ranks. He stayed with the club until 2006 when he was taken on loan by giants Nacional because of his impressive performances. Despite playing only for a brief period with Nacional, he began attracting the attention of some big European clubs such as Juventus, Benfica, Arsenal and Lazio. His performance during the 2007 Copa Libertadores boosted his stock so much that he was signed that same year by the Serie A club Lazio which moved him to one of Europe's biggest soccer leagues.
His early days in Lazio were not really notable because of some losses attributed to him. These costly errors made him lose his starting spot. However, with his uncanny natural ability and mental toughness, the Italian coaching staff gave him back his starting spot and he had never failed to impress up to the end of this season.
He had been with the senior national squad since the 2009 qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup but was an unused substitute for their matches against Paraguay and Chile. He earned his first cap on October 10, 2009 when his country won a 2-1 away game over Ecuador. After his impressive performance in that win, he was again chosen to start against Argentina and Costa Rica. He repeatedly displayed impressive performances that his coaches made him the first choice on goal for their country's 2010 World Cup campaign.
He showed that he belonged with the best in the world when he kept a clean sheet for their three matches in the group stages of the World Cup against France, Mexico and South Africa. He was equally impressive against South Korea in the Round of 16 which brought his team to a quarterfinal meeting with a strong Ghana squad. It was on this match that he really cemented his role in the national team by saving two crucial penalties in the penalty shootout. His heroics brought their euphoric team to a semifinal match against the Netherlands where they eventually lost 3 - 2.
Youth does indeed have its advantages. Fernando Muslera is a young athlete playing with and competing against the best in soccer's biggest stage. His youth did not deter him from keeping his nerves at bay but instead channeled it into energy and composure to come up with performances that will be in the minds of people worldwide for years to come.

World Cup Madness
Image : http://www.flickr.com
It is time to become a global soccer team.
For one month the planet will become a real soccer ball! Every television will be connected to this extraordinary sport. The TV networks will make millions of dollars without counting all the products related for the World Cup 2010.
I remember when i was a little boy playing in the park or behind my parents house. I was a soccer player in my head! I wanted to become like them...the kings of the grass! All the incredible manipulations that theses players can do with the ball, the moves that will make anyone like me loose there pants at the same time the fragility of the game (broken bone, cramps).
32 teams or country will battle for the supreme cup. It will not be about individual aspect of the game but they will play for the country. Can you imagine the pressure that these players will have if they make a mistake that could cost the country to be eliminated!
I once read that some players never became the same after creating a mistake that was final! Some of them suicide them self!
This world cup like all the others world cups is bigger than life...it is the world! The world cup will bring people together, will bring memories and even will make some people forget the hard aspects of life ( at least for a month ). People will wake-up in the middle of the night just to watch the game, people will can sick at work to watch the game, people will create human relations by talking to other people.
Let's just enjoy this beautiful moment of sport and become the biggest soccer ball of the entire solar system!
Whats weird about all this is that after the cup everything and everyone will go back to the normal life...So for this short time, we should get the most out of this experience!

When you embark on a journey to South Africa, one of the most cosmopolitan places to go that will appeal to everyone's budgets and tastes is most definitely Cape Town. With the soccer world cup coming to South Africa in 2010, thousands of people worldwide will have their eyes opened to the city and all of South Africa.
With vibrant streets and friendly people you will always feel welcome and at home here. Cape Town is modern and chic with segments of different communities contributing to the unique blend of culture here. You also have the combination of all climates and topography all within very close proximity of each other, so one minute you can be surfing or sun tanning on the glorious beaches and the next you can be breathing in the crisp air as you hike through the Cape vineyards. You will not be disappointed when you come to Cape Town at any time of year.
The different seasons hold splendid sights and experiences that can only be attributed to that specific time of year, so to get a true and overall picture of Cape Town; you need to make more than one trip during different times of year. The weather here is great almost all year round. There are very rainy days in winter and very windy days in summer, but this does not continue for the entire season and most of the time you will have stunning days that are warm and peaceful.
There is so much to see and do here that it is hard to know where to start. If you are new to the country and the Cape, perhaps the best place to start your vacation is in the heart of the Mother City. Here you can visit all the art galleries and museums and by just walking through the streets of Cape Town CBD and the Foreshore you will soon have a pretty good grasp of things. There are streets for the arty and chic, places that are more European with lovely coffee shops and cafes, there are the more earthy, bohemian aspects, areas where the African culture shines, up-market areas, and those that are more down to earth and bustling with the locals. There are craft markets, eateries, as well as interesting, historical places like the tranquil Gardens of Cape Town, Parliament buildings, the President's Residence, the Planetarium, and the Artscape Theatre. You should also make time to go on a tour of the Castle of Good Hope which will be a prominent sight as you travel into the city. This 5-sided castle was once a fort and the tallest building in Cape Town, until the skyscrapers were introduced. The old Town Hall is also great to view and the magnificent architecture is very well preserved and elegant. The Cape Town City library is also housed in this building.
You can also see the most famous of the Cape Town landmarks - Table Mountain. There are regular Cable Car ride up to the top of the flat topped mountain where there are restaurants, shops, walking trails and perfect sunset viewing spots. Weddings and other functions can also be planned up on Table Mountain, but the weather can be of concern during the windy times of year, as the cable car does not ride up due to the strong gusts and the infamous "table cloth" of thick cloud that covers the top. On the other side of Table Mountain sits the botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch which must not be missed.
Moving away from the city center you have a choice of going north or south, east or west. The far south is located along a narrow Peninsula and this is where the historical and seaside towns of Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, and Simon's Town are located. Simon's Town is where the country's naval base is located and offers a quaint Mediterranean vibe. There are lovely old buildings and great naval vessels to see, as well as the firing guns at Lower North Battery which are still in use. You can also go to the 100 year old Jubilee Square where the statue of Just Nuisance, the famous navy dog, stands proudly. From here the marvels of Cape Point are just a short, very pleasant drive away. Here you can see the Chacma Baboons in their natural habitat as well as various antelope and zebra inside the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. There is also an ostrich farm, craft stalls, picnic areas and attractions like Diaz Cross, Da Gama Cross, Cape Point Lighthouse, and the exact point where the two oceans meet - the southeastern most point of the African continent.
If you travel northwards from Cape Town you will get into the hotter northern suburbs and find great places like Durbanville with great wine farms, Tygerburg Zoo, Monkey Town, the Belville Veladrome, and the historical winelands town of Paarl. From here you can move eastward to include other wine areas that make up the longest wine route in the world, like those in Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, with their own unique histories. Along the East Coast you can get to amazing town of Hermanus where the annual Whale Festival is held and the Southern Right Whale migration and breeding is best seen. You should also visit very tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas. If you want to travel along the West Coast of the Cape you will move into the cooler Atlantic Ocean side where the small fishermen type villages still preside with white washed walls and wonderful, untouched natural beauty.
Because South Africa is so off the beaten path for most vacationers - heck it's a 20-hour flight from New York - Cape Town doesn't receive nearly the number of tourists as other vacation hot spots around the world. It's unfortunate because the whole of South Africa is quite amazing. Lisa Jenkins is a freelance writer for FrugalMonkey, a discount travel website with detailed country travel guides. Jenkins lets travelers know what to see and do while in South Africa, including trips to renowned South Africa wineries. The country is expected to receive a major tourism boost thanks to World Cup South Africa coming in 2010.

Who Will Win the 2010 Football World Cup?
Image : http://www.flickr.com
The 2010 World Cup in South Africa should be a great event with a variety of potential winners. If you look at the contenders, you may come to the conclusion that Brazil and Spain will be hot favourites.
Brazil have one of the worlds best players in the amazing Kaka and other top players such as Robinho. As usual they sailed through qualification but they do have a very tough group with the Ivory coast and Portugal providing difficult opposition.
Spain have a wonderful team and have a good draw for their world cup group. With players such as Torres and stars from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal they are sure to be strong contenders to add to their Euro 2008 success.
England stormed through world cup qualifying and with players such as Gerrard, Rooney and Lampard there is no doubt that they do have some top quality in their starting line up. However, despite an easy group it is normally the case that England struggle when they get to quarter final stage and meet a quality team.
Suspect areas include no recognised top class goalkeeper and a reliance on Wayne Rooney as the only world class striker.
Germany doesn't have any outstanding players but never write the Germans off as they always rise to the occasion when the crunch comes. But look out for their tough opening group and a potential next round clash with England that could prove tricky for the Germans.
Portugal has the outstanding Ronaldo but only qualified after a play off which highlights the lack of class in their squad despite being one of the most skillful teams.
Argentina has the world player of the year in Lionel Messi and a host of other top stars but Maradona doesn't have a settled team and they can be considered outsiders. But can you really write off any team with the skills of Messi?
Italy is the defending world champions who always start slowly but their team is getting older and it would be a surprise if they reached the final again.
France was lucky to qualify against Ireland and with players such as Henry and Vierra past their best it would need a massive improvement in form for the French to be serious contenders. Also throw in a manager who is not respected by the players and it's hard to see how the French can reach the final again.
Other outsiders could be the Ivory Coast with Drogba in attack and possibly Holland, who has some class players.

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Blow your own trumpet!
Get ready for some unique fashion statement at the 2010 FIFA world cup to be held in South Africa for the first time. It won't just be your favorite players in their world cup soccer jerseys vying for your attention! Soccer world cup fans are all set to up the temperature with their traditional vuvuzelas - those trumpets that sound like busy bumbling bees every time the ball enters the net!
A hat for every head
You can expect vuvuzelas to mingle with makarabas making for a complete riot of sound and color! Makaraba hats were first worn in South Africa in the 70s as protection against bottles or other flying objects! Later, all kinds of designs and add-ons were fixed onto these hard builder hats making them a must have fashion statement. They've become so popular that no hard core football fan can be seen without one! Makarabas representing the participating teams in the 2010 World Cup are being designed on a war footing. Each hat is painstakingly prepared by hand and cut into a unique shape and design, so it takes anywhere between 8 to 14 hours to make one! These colorful works of art make for great souvenirs of the much awaited World Cup.
Soccer Sells!
Besides this, there are all kinds of merchandise you can pick up to declare your loyalty for your team from custom-made soccer apparel to watches, mugs, scarves, wallets, bedspreads and DVDs. And you can find something to suit your pocket. Replica team jerseys are probably the most common and popular choice with fans. After all, nothing beats wearing your team colors during a match while you're at the stadium in front of the TV! It's a heady experience of loyalty, pride and togetherness.
Sports Collection
Puma made sure it wasn't left behind in this football frenzy! It joined hands with fashion expert Neil Barrett to launch an athletic lifestyle collection that covers everything from hooded sweatshirts to tees, cargoes to blouson jackets. The focus is on functional fibers, distressed washes and embellished applications giving it a fashionable yet comfortable look. Barrett, a giant in the fashion industry with names like Prada and Gucci under his belt, was inspired by the protective armor worn by Roman gladiators! He added his own layered signature to it. And voila!
Beckham Mayhem
Britain's star player David Beckham has made soccer super fashionable! It's no longer just about the game; it's about cash rich sponsorships, global sports brands and celebrity endorsements. LA Galaxy roped in Beckham to wear their new soccer shirt making it the fastest selling shirt ever! More than a quarter million were ordered even before the design was revealed thanks to Becks! The home shirt is similar to Real Madrid's, while the away shirt comes in a three dimensional design in navy blue with hints of yellow. The good thing is this soccer shirt has been designed to be worn outside the stadium as well.
With so much going on in the world of soccer fashion, the choices are plenty and increasing by the day. So, take your pick and make your own style statement!
The 2010 kits aren't out yet. Why not wear some old-style World Cup apparel while you wait?

Beauties in World Cup 2010
Image : http://www.flickr.com
When all the craziness of World Cup keeps going, our men, husbands and boyfriends stick like glue to their TV sets. Then, what should women do during this crazy and hot summer? Stay alone and weep? Of course not! Today, World Cup is not just the privileged crazy time for men, but also a big fashion show for women. Look at those female fans in the stadium; they make efforts to show their beauty and craziness to the public. Sexy bikinis, colorful paint, distinctive goggles, and printed tight underwear create beautiful and astounding scenery in the stadium, attracting both players and spectators.
These beautiful and sexy female fans and cheerleaders have become as important to the World Cup as soccer itself. To show their love for their teams and their beauty as well, they pay especially great attention to their underwear decoration.
The most common style of underwear is one with national flag on it. It clearly shows their love and support for the team. Similarly, some fans wear underwear printed with names or signs of their country. Another popular underwear style is one that featured with football shape and color.
The hot underwear brings their owners more than enough attention and praise. Female fans play a more remarkable role than male fans. They bring extra entertainment and delight for the World Cup and audience this summer. And I finally know why the World Cup always chooses warm weather as its play time. It's the best time for beauty show!

Shakira Zangalew - World Cup 2010 Opening Song
Image : http://www.flickr.com
In 1985 a group of soldiers (artist) under the name Golden Sounds, realized a song that today has been the second anthem of Cameroon after the national anthem. Zangalewa was the name of the song that hit across all corners of Africa. Jean Paul Ze Bella the lead singer alongside Kojic Emile and Victor Dooh Belley explained the source of their inspiration as a way to pay tribute to Cameroon soldiers who fort during the Second World War. During the Second World War the Cameroon soldiers created a slang for better communication between themselves from which Golden sounds mimicked the pace to come out with the arrangement Zangalewa.
Shakira amongst other musicians like Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, Juanes, Amadou and Mariam have been called upon to animate during the opening ceremony of the world cup 2010. It is in this light that Shakira Zangalewa was created by Shakira. Shakira a Colombian born American icon has modified Zangalewa to Shakira's Zangalewa in preparation for the opening ceremony of world cup 2010. With no aorta of doubts Shakira Zangalewa is an inspirational song that will suit the events of the world cup. It is a song filled with power and command.
The rhythm of Zangalewa and now Shakira's Zangalewa is a military rhythm that will prepare players of all nationalities against the football battle. It is the right song for a tournament because it encourages competition and a fighting spirit. The Cameroonian football team is lucky and proud of this heritage as it will symbolize and project the countries name during this tournament. This will also act as a moral booster to the team as they have never prepared for a competition as much as this.
Each world cup tournament has its own leading song, but Shakira's Zangalewa is a song with a difference for world 2010. It is a song written and chanted by a native African, and a song from Cameroon the leading football nation in Africa. A song being remade by one of the world's greatest singers will create an impact yet to be seen during this tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2010 Quarter Final Match - Brazil Vs Holland
Image : http://www.flickr.com
Yesterday World Cup second round matches had been a fascinating affair. Brazil and Holland emerged victorious in both of their round of 16 matches. Brazil beat Chile 3-0 while Holland beat Slovakia 2-1 in the earlier match. Both teams will meet each other in the quarter final stage of this year FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This should be an intriguing match and will surely attract plenty of attention as both football super power nation face each other. Brazil has won 5 world titles under their belt while Holland has yet to win any. However, Holland can not be under estimated as they have a long tradition of playing exceptionally good football and are capable of beating any team in the world. Their "Total" football philosophy is scintillating and attractive. Brazil is famous for their "Samba" style football that is capable of dominating a match from start to finish. Both teams are very good at holding and keeping possession of the ball making it very difficult for their opponent to beat them.
In yesterday game, Brazil goals scorers were Juan, Luis Fabiano and Robinho. Juan scored Brazil first goal with a header from a corner kick. Follow by Luis Fabiano well taken goal assisted by Kaka. Lastly, Robinho ended Chile misery with the third goals making the score line 3-0 to Brazil. In another match, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder give Holland a two goals advantage before Robert Vittek scored from the penalty spot deep into the injury time. It was a comfortable win 2-1 for the Dutch.
Both teams will clash on 2 of July 2010 for a place in the semi final. The one that come out as a winner will sure be the favorite to reach the final as the opponent in the semi final is either Ghana or Uruguay. Either Brazil or Holland is expected to beat any of the two teams to reach the final of this year tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa - Scaffold and Formwork Contractors
Image : http://www.flickr.com
The FIFA World Cup 2010 Football Tournament (Soccer World Cup to South Africans) is a mere 20 months away and South Africa is truly abuzz with preparations. There is an enormous amount of pressure on South Africa to execute a successful and memorable tournament and work has begun in full force to ensure that the tournament is fault-free.
Construction and Scaffolding is Key
The construction sector is booming and reaping the benefits of these preparations as stadiums are built along with new roads and freeways. Buildings, suburbs and districts are being renovated to create an attractive, first-world image of South Africa to visiting foreigners and television audiences from around the world.
Scaffolding is imperative to the preparatory processes as scaffolding is required for not only various formwork and construction projects, but also to provide safe and easy access for renovations and restorations.
Roads
The influx of people into South Africa for the World Cup, and especially into the main cities of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, requires that many infrastructure upgrades be made in these cities. The Department of Transport has been given a budget of R92-billion to bring the standard of the roads up to a level where they can cope with the enormous influx of traffic.
In Cape Town, the freeway system has always been relatively small and unable to cope with the volume of everyday traffic in and out of town. Roads are being widened to cope with the increased traffic that 2010 will bring. Many other cities are expanding their road infrastructure and repairing problems such as potholes. Scaffolding is used to build these new roads and complete the necessary formwork for the new infrastructure.
Buildings and Structures
In 2010 host cities, hotels are being built, old buildings are being restored to their former attractiveness and 'bad' areas are being cleaned up. The older buildings that are being restored are a mixture of high-rise blocks and smaller structures and scaffolding is needed to complete all of these adjustments and new structures.
Scaffolding is needed in the restoration process to allow workers access to high and difficult places to reach, whilst maintaining the safety of the workmen and bystanders.
Airports
One of the major construction projects taking place to accommodate the World Cup in 2010 is the expansion of South Africa's main airports. Over R5.2-billion has been invested in developing South Africa's airports to world-class standards. Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg have seen the majority of expansions, especially Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport which has benefitted from a R1.6-billion investment to develop the central terminal.
The terminal is linked to the Gautrain, a high speed train which will travel from OR Tambo Airport to Johannesburg.
Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg airports have had their existing parking facilities upgraded to large, multi-story parkades to allow sufficient parking for the influx of visitors. R132-million has been budgeted for refurbishments at national airports which will provide temporary facilities during the tournament.
Stadiums
There are five stadiums which are being constructed from new, adding to the stadiums already existing in South Africa. Green Point Stadium in the Western Cape (the previous Green Point Stadium was demolished in 2007), the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex, the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth and the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban are under construction currently to be finished for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The FNB Stadium, Ellis Park in Johannesburg and Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane, along with the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in North West and Vodacom Park in Mangaung (Bloemfontein) are in the process of being upgraded to increase capacity and improve facilities.
These stadiums require enormous engineering feats and advanced use of scaffolding and formwork to ensure that the structures are completed on time and in good quality to achieve the maximum success for South Africa in hosting the tournament.
The FIFA World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world. All eyes will be on South Africa to perform not only on the field, but also as a host country. With current construction underway, scaffolding is helping engineers and contractors to achieve top results in less time, with less man power but with the maximum safety available.

What's Going on With the National Curriculum Statement in South Africa
Image : http://www.flickr.com
The new system aims to put right defects in the unpopular Outcome Based Education (OBE) system and improve learner achievements.
The Committee that reviewed the process acknowledged that teachers were over burdened with curriculum and administrative duties and the department has started the process of relieving some of the pressure on them, thereby allowing them to do what they are there for- to teach our learners. The Review Committee has set in motion measures to reduce the number of projects learners need to do and portfolio files of learner assessments have been axed. Also, as of January 2010 CTAS for Grade 9 learners were stopped.
When you look at some of the statistics that are being published, these changes couldn't have come sooner. A survey found that under OBE, a million children gave up schooling every year, with in excess of five million learners having left school incapable of reading or writing effectively.
The Minister explained the aims of the new National Curriculum Statement (NCS), summarised as follows:
• The repackaging of the existing curriculum into the general aims of the South African curriculum, the specific aims of each subject, clearly delineated topics to be covered per term and the required number and type of assessments, also per term.
• Outcomes to be absorbed into more accessible aims and content and assessment requirements will be spelt out more clearly. Topics and assessments to be covered per term are being aligned to available time allocations per subject.
• The reduction of the number of learning areas in the Intermediate Phase from eight to six. That means that in grades 4 to 6 technology will be combined with science, arts and culture will be combined with life orientation and economic and management sciences will be taught only from grade 7. One of the priorities in the Basic Education budget speech in March was the development and distribution of adequate learning and teaching material. Motshekga went on to explain "A crucial pillar in the Department's determination to improve learner performance is the provision of learner workbooks. This project is a result of the injunction by the Presidency to provide resources to teachers and learners to improve learner performance in literacy and numeracy.
To this end, the Department of Basic Education has developed a plan for the development of the Work Books for Grades 1 - 6 in order to ensure the development, piloting, printing and distribution of learner workbooks early in 2011. We will pilot the workbooks in schools in 2010 and they will be available for use in all schools in 2011. The project will provide resource support to 6.5 million learners and approx 180 000 teachers in nearly 20 000 schools. This will place workbooks in the hands of each and every learner in the system.
A team of curriculum experts/materials developers/translators is developing the workbooks. These individuals have proven experience in the development of learner workbooks, are conversant with resource based methods and are able to produce high quality output according to project deadlines."
Additional recommendations that Minister Motshekga made are:
"Firstly, the Council approved the recommendation that from 2011, the language chosen by the learner as a Language of Learning and Teaching shall be taught as a subject, or as a First Additional Language, from Grade One (1) and not from Grade 2, as is currently the case. What this means, for instance, is that the teaching of English will occur alongside mother tongue instruction for those learners who choose English as a language of learning and teaching. English will not replace the mother tongue or home language in the early grades, as some commentators have interpreted the recommendation.
Secondly, Council agreed to regular, externally-set assessments at grades 3, 6 and 9 in literacy (in home language and first additional language) and numeracy/mathematics. It agreed on a weighting of continuous assessment and end of year examinations.
Council thirdly agreed that the symbols or rating scales used to rate learner performance in Grades 10-12 will, from 2011, be extended to Grades R-9, so that there is consistency across the curriculum."
The fact that the OBE problems are being addressed is indeed progress but what of the 5 million kids that have left school with limited literacy and numeracy skills - are they to be written off as lost?
